The brief was to restore the dilapidated 1898 Public House back to its former glory and retain the original features and character of this much-loved Victorian pub.

Design notes
A dilapidations survey of the existing building was carried out by Monument, with repairs specified and incorporated into the architecture and interior design processes.
In addition to the design process Monument carried out the external repair works and the internal fit out of the bar, cellar, kitchen, lounge, function room and drinking corridor. Abercrombies Interior Design carefully completed the space with local artwork and sporting memorabilia throughout.
Given the buildings proximity to an adjacent rail line discussions and liaison with Network Rail was critical to the timing of the project and the external repair works which required scaffolding adjacent to the live overhead lines. Despite a lengthy and often difficult process the required permission was secured to allow the works to progress.
